Then I keep having thoughts about starting my own sample company, so Hise is looking good as a VI delivery but I don't think I'm considering it as a multi platform synth program so it may be in a separate category.īetween Falcon, Halion and Hise wondering what are your thoughts? Also, any other systems I should be considering? The criterion is that the platform must support multiple styles of synthesis. So 2021 was devoted to learning MSoundFactory and then out of nowhere PHASEPLANT!!!! stole the show so I learned both.Ģ022 is upon us and this year I was sure I was going with Falcon but.out of nowhere Halion which was running in last place, like dead last place, like I wouldn't buy Halion if they gave me money to use it last place, it shot up out of nowhere and now is neck and neck with Falcon. Though my heart was with Falcon my head and my wallet went with MSoundFactory on sale and discounted because I was an owner of MPowersynth. At the time I was deciding I was learning ZebraHZ which I got for myself as a Birthday gift.Ģ121 came and though I had started the debate in 2020, it was a toss up between MSoundFactory and Falcon. Herring to decide on what synth platform I'm going to learn this year as a birthday gift to myself.ĭuring the never ending pandemic of the great year of our lord 2020 I decide that in my lifetime I had time to learn one new synth platform per year. It would be hard to complain about its limitations with this.Yesterday was my birthday and today 2022 is here and it's time for Mr. Assuming that UVI Workstation has the latest UVI advances (and hoping that it plays the new Apple Loops), this is just the thing to extend DP's reach in a major way. It makes it competitive with Logic in the area of loops and sound creation, as well as a universal sample player, sampler, and sample editor. And that's a good thing for DP, because - as I've said many times in this forum - Mach Five 2 sort of completes DP. Pictures of it and descriptions tell me that it's basically Mach Five Lite. Shooshie wrote:I don't have DP6 yet, nor has it even shown up on my bank account yet, but this UVI Workstation that some are talking about interests me. So I wouldn't quite call it MachFive Lite, but it should prove to be a useful tool for what it is (and from what I read on KVR's forum, the UVI developers say that its audio and graphics engine improvements will make their way into M5 et al. Which is of course appropriate for a free player plug-in if you want to build your own, move up to M5. As far as instrument presets, it's limited to preset playback - no preset creation. It lets you manipulate loops (Apple Loops, REX, AIFF, and WAVE) but doesn't allow for advanced capabilities like slicing up your own loops (it recognizes slices in Apple Loops and REX files, though, so you can use the same sliced playback abilities as in M5). Logic users can download the plug-in & demo sounds same as any DP user. I guess including it with DP 6 is just a mutual backscratch rather than something exclusive for DP users, so it doesn't really change the comparison of Logic vs. From what I understand, it's meant to replace the old Universal UVIPlayer, as well as the Plugsound Pro player, so it wouldn't make any sense to limit it to DP users. UVI Workstation is great for DP and all, but it's not exclusive - it's available free for anyone, Mac or PC, at. what am I talking about? I don't even USE loops! But I do use Mach Five 2, and it would be nice to know that it's there in DP now. I've got all those sets that came with Logic Studio. if only UVI Workstation will play all those Apple Loops. A major improvement that more-or-less answers Apple's big price slash last year for Logic Studio. If I'm correct about this, then we've just seen a huge leap forward. Has anyone played with UVI Workstation yet? One question: if you CONTROL-CLICK (or right-click) on a button or knob, do you get a pop-up window for attaching MIDI controllers? If so, I'm betting that this is Mach Five Lite! I have long hoped that MOTU would roll those two together, for once you've used Mach Five 2 with DP, you get the feeling that it's not complete otherwise.
